Resurrection Rolls
Here's a fun recipe you can do with your children/grandchildren in order for them to understand the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This fun recipe uses crescent rolls and a disappearing marshmallow! Preheat Oven to 350 degrees
8 large marshmallows Melted butter Cinnamon Sugar Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. The crescent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in. Read Matthew 27:57-61, or tell the story of Jesus' burial. Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus. Have him/her dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming. Now dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represents the spices used to anoint the body. Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll, but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow tightly and completely inside.) This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death. Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. (The oven represents the tomb - pretend like it was three days!) (The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty. If there were any leaks, you may want to clean up the melted marshmallow off the pan before showing it to the children.) Let the rolls cool slightly. While they cook, read Matthew 28: 1-10, or tell the story of Jesus' resurrection and the empty tomb. The children can open their rolls and discover that "Jesus" is no longer there, because He is risen! And, they're delicious! |
